Movie notes

  • Shows futuristic spaceship in space next to a dying star (or maybe the sun)

  • Ship is attacked by another very futuristic spaceship that is much bigger

    • Shows that even in the future there is conflict

      • This conflict is much more dangerous and deadly because of the increased technology

  • Alien seen with the crew on the ship

  • Metaphor - war ship

    • Captain, ranking system in society

  • USS KELVIN

  • Holographic tech shown

  • Beings on the attack ship do how appear completely human; more alien/space person appearance

  • George chooses the lives of hundreds over himself and being with his wife and newborn

  • Flying cars and old cars seen

  • Very futuristic education system

    • Children are extremely intelligent

  • Note how characters are being introduced

    • Mostly action based

    • James - car scene

    • Spock - fighting another kid

    • Shown first as children then as adults

    • Shows a balance between futuristic and past

  • Jim is committed to passing the test that no one ever passes

    • Successfully completes the test

    • Spock is very confused as to how

  • See through tech

  • “Federation” ships - very futuristic

  • Cgi for this time is very good

    • Clearly shows ships in space fighting

  • Even with all of their tech, they still use hand to hand combat

    • Shows that no matter how far tech advances humans will still have a place in society

  • Kirk and other person saved by technology

  • Spock feels human emotions even though he is not supposed to 

  • Shows time travel tech

    • Includes alternate realities

  • Human emotion takes over the enemy

    • Uses tech to act out of rage

    • Very dangerous when in control of that high level of tech

    • Has to go out of this ship to see it

    • Shows that technology can fail and humans must still do things manually

  • Futuristic take on sarcophagus - body wrapped in cloth from neck down and tops automatically close

  • Children (michael) shown in futuristic school again

    • Appears as though they are trying to become volcan

  • Klingons are using coffins to protect their ship

  • Signal pulse is used by the klingons


Strange new worlds

  • Not highly futuristic screens

    • Still show a high amount of information

  • Appears flip phone is still used

    • Not a flip phone but a kind of communication device

  • Uses a horse for transportation

  • Kind of futuristic tablet shown

  • Humans are often believed over volcans 

    • Shows that sometimes emotion is necessary in decision making, not just facts
